WHY experience

Why Experience

Simple … because life is meant to be lived, not planned. Because life is meant to be an adventure. Because places are just places, but experiences are vibrant and memorable. Because anyone can see things, but the experience is about participating in it. Because it’s more fun not to know. Because you’ve had enough doing and it’s time for more experiencing.

The mystery trip experience is just that – it’s a mystery, it’s a trip (to an unknown destination) and it’s an experience. From the moment you book it, to the moment you open your envelope at the airport to discover where your adventure is taking you, to the moment you land in your mystery city, to the moment you start figuring it all out because you have no plan, schedule or agenda. All you have is The Experience.

Once you know your destination you can start your research into places to go, things to see, where to stay, etc. (thank you Google), but we encourage you to spend as much time asking as you do researching. Ask everyone you meet what they suggest you see and do, and don’t settle for the typical tourist destinations – ask them instead these questions:

·      “Where do the locals like to visit?”

·      “What are the interesting local places and experiences that many people don’t know about?”

·      “What are the most unusual or interesting places in this city?”

·      “What should we be sure to experience while we’re here?”

Can you already feel and sense the difference between a mystery trip experience and just another trip? Much like life, it’s more about the people you will meet and experience.

If you don’t already have goosebumps thinking about the possibilities with your mystery trip experience, then the mystery trip experience may not be for you. It’s certainly not for everyone, but it IS for anyone who loves fun, craves adventure and is ready for more fun and adventure in their life. If you’re ready to explore the possibilities for your mystery trip experience, then visit Your Experience. You can also learn more at What You Need to Know, including fees, steps and other details.

Here’s what other mystery experience travelers are saying:

“Imagine taking an adventurous break from your pre-planned, fully automatic life. For three days you don't know where you are going, where you are staying, what you will use for transportation, who you will meet or what you will discover. For me, it is THE experience I look forward to every year.”

"Our Mystery Experience Trips are nothing like real life and everything like real life for me. Whether you lead a company, a community, a team, a family, if you are the leader then people look to you for a plan, a vision, and all the answers.  When I show up at the airport I have no plan, no vision, and no answers.  I only have friends I can trust.  That's the Mystery Experience. At the same time, just like being a leader, one is confronted with surprises every day, some good and some not so good.  You have to address them head on, with courage, and as a team that uses its individual strengths, and mutual trust, to just figure it out.  That’s the Mystery Experience. When the trip is over I always reflect back on the lessons learned as well as the laughs. I think about our struggles amidst our stamina. I'll always remember the group dinners where we always meet unique new friends. I'll remember the impromptu 1-on-1-ons with other Mystery Experience travelers or strangers on the street. I'll remember some unique times of reflection after moments that have changed my life. All I had to really do was show up early with a very small packed bag and wide opened mind. Enjoy!”

"In a time when surprises are the last thing you want when you visit an airport, please allow the Mystery Experience Trip to turn conventional travel thinking on its head. Imagine showing up at the airport with a group of friends or strangers, with one bag each and a sealed envelope. That envelope contains your group’s destination and roundtrip airfare to a fabulous city that has been selected without the group’s input or knowledge. With great anticipation, you open the envelope and find out where you will be spending the next three days together as a group—but the adventure does not end there, it has only started. Where are you going to stay? How are you going to get around? What are you going to see? Does anyone in your group have helpful suggestions or will you have to rely on internet research or by striking up conversations with the locals? In addition to learning more about the host city than many of its citizens experience in a lifetime, the Mystery Experience Trip provides an unmatched team building experience as you rely on each other’s skills to navigate your days and nights in a new city. This is a vacation like no other.”

“Drama.  Suspense.  Excitement.  The unknown. Discovery.  Learning. Exploration. Growth. Bonding. Experience. The Magical Mystery Tour delivers it all. There is nothing quite like showing up at an airport to catch a plane, when you don’t know what plane it is or where it’s going. You can only bring one bag, and not knowing your destination makes packing the night before a whole new experience. When everyone arrives, it’s time to open the envelope…and our destination is???? Now you know where you are going. Where are you going to stay? How are you going to get around? What are you going to do? Good questions all. So you hop on the plane, fly to your destination, and spend the next 48-72 hours learning everything you can about the city, experiencing whatever sounds interesting or different or fun, meeting people who are simply fascinated about the MMT concept and want to show off their city to this group of intrepid visitors. The Magical Mystery Tour – an experience unlike any other.”

"Sometimes you have to take a risk and do something differently. When we travel, we are taught to be prepared: have your room scheduled, determine your transportation needs, etc. This is one of those trips when you trust things will work out. Instead of it being a trip, it becomes an adventure and a great way to build life (or deepen) friendships. You learn things you never knew. You share things you never expected to share. You eat foods you usually don’t eat. You become one with the culture of the city you are visiting. Overall you have fun in a different kind of way.”
